Gilberto Silva

Gilberto Silva was contracted by Arsenal for a transfer fee of £4.5 million in August 2002. Among his achievements are the winnings of the 2004 FA Premier League and a total of two FA cup trophies. He scored 12 goals over 160 games in his first 4 seasons with Arsenal.

Gilberto scored Arsenal's first competitive goal ever, at the just finished Emirates Stadium. Gilberto is uncer contract to Arsenal until June 2009 when he is widely presumed to move back to Brazil. He is currently vice-captain of Arsenal.
