Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry started early. Already at the age of 13, he managed to get a contract with Monaco. He won the league with his club in 1997 when he teamed up with Trezeguet to make a killer attack duo. The two had been successful before and won the junior world championchip in 1996. Henry was sold to Juventus in 1998 but had a problem to convince as a player in the left midfield and got to play only 16 matches in total. Arsene Wenger spotted another position for the promising  French player and bought his contract for Arsenal in 1999. He scored a total of 17 goals in his first season even though the first 14 matches counted only two goals.

He scores his goal number one hundred for Arsenal on January 12, 2003 against Birmingham. No other Arsenal player has been as efficient and many now believe that it is no longer a question of if he will overtake the old record by Ian Wright, but only a question of when this will happen.

Merits: World champion 1998, European champion 2002, League champion 1997 (Monaco), 2002, 2004. FA Cup winner 2002. Footballer of the year 2003, 2004.
